Supporting the Eastern Water Supply Project for Zhengzhou-Kaifeng Integration, Jointly Ushering in a New Chapter of Dual-City Integration Construction
The "Zhengzhou-Kaifeng Integration" is an important strategy in the Overall Plan for Territorial Space of Zhengzhou City (2020-2035), which aims to promote the integrated development of Zhengzhou and Kaifeng, especially by focusing on the construction of the Zhengzhou-Kaifeng Integrated Development Demonstration Zone, based on the eastern new city of Zhengzhou and the western new district of Kaifeng, and exploring pioneering systems and policies. 02-09-2024
The Eastern Water Supply Project for Zhengzhou-Kaifeng Integration, as a major water conservancy project in Henan Province, makes full use of the water source from the South-to-North Water Diversion Project to fundamentally alleviate the contradiction between water supply and demand in Zhengzhou and Kaifeng, and improve the quality of water used by residents in the two cities. This cross-regional water diversion project has effectively enhanced the water resource carrying capacity of Zhengzhou and Kaifeng, providing a strong guarantee for the sustainable economic and social development of the two cities, and is of great strategic significance for the high-quality development of Zhengzhou-Kaifeng Integration.
The total investment in the eastern water supply project of Zhengzhou-Kaifeng urban integration is approximately 3.491 billion yuan, with the first phase of the project expected to be completed by the end of this year. The construction involves diverting water from the No. 20 Xiaoheliu outlet of the South-to-North Water Diversion Main Canal and supplying South-to-North Water Diversion raw water to the Jiulong Water Plant (1 million tons/day), Longhu Water Plant (200,000 tons/day), Dongzhou Water Plant (200,000 tons/day), Qiaonan Water Plant (250,000 tons/day), and Kaifeng City (100 million tons/year). It will also be connected to the water supply pipeline in Kaifeng. The total length of the pipeline is 46.08 km, with the maximum pipe diameter of DN4000. The whole line adopts pipe jacking construction. This project has set many records in Henan Province: it serves the largest population (approximately 4 million people), has the largest water transmission pipe diameter, the longest pipe jacking distance, and the most difficult construction (the pipeline needs to cross existing high-speed railway lines, highways, national and provincial trunk roads, as well as important facilities such as oil pipelines and high-pressure gas pipelines, posing significant challenges to the overall construction).
In this major project, AVK provided a comprehensive solution of super-large diameter valves for the renovation project of the 20th Xiaoheliukou and the raw water trunk pipeline project (Phase I) in the eastern part of Zhengzhou in the first phase of the project. The solution covers electric double- eccentric butterfly valves with diameters ranging from DN1200 to DN3200, ensuring no leakage or damage during long-term operation, demonstrating excellent durability and sealing performance. The electric flow control plunger valves with diameters ranging from DN1400 to DN2200 maintain the stability of pressure and flow in the pipeline by linearly and accurately adjusting the valve opening, ensuring the safety and efficiency of the water transmission process. These high-performance valves are not only easy to operate and maintain, but also ensure the efficient operation and long-term stability of the entire project with their excellent performance.
